Day 27:  Hampton
Trip 03, Day 6 (Day 27):  Hampton
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2006

The alarm went off at 7 a.m.  This greatly assisted us in getting an earlier-than-normal start.  Joe was walking before 9 a.m., and I started a little over an hour later.

Starting point:  43.73806 N, 120.38100 W
Ending point:  43.65909 N, 120.21481 W

Basically, the scenery was little different from the day before.  However, as I approached the Hampton Buttes on my left, I was treated for awhile to some variety:  hay fields.  They were mown, and the hay was compressed into bales and neatly stacked.  A farmer was driving a tractor, plowing the stubble under for the winter and for planting the next alfalfa crop.

At 8.5 miles, I came to Hampton, a wide spot in the road with a gas station / café that made Brothers look somewhat citified.  A mile and a half later, this trip ended at Milepost 65.

Walk rating:  3.7 (reduced due to narrower shoulders on the highway)

Money found:  Day:  $.37  Trip:  $1.77  Project:  $12.46

Distance:  Day:  10.1 miles  Trip:  63.1 miles  Project:  251.4 miles

Walking time:  Day: 3:15  Trip:  20:21  Project:  92:19

Significance:  Surpassed 250 mile point; end of Trip 03.

Next Trip:  Burns
